Q. ¿Qué hora es? .................What time is it?

     Es la una. .................It is (It's) one o' clock.

     Son las dos. .................It is (It's) two o' clock.

• Principle: Use "es" when citing one o' clock only. Use "son" for all other hour numbers.

Q. ¿Qué hora era? ............... What time was it?

    Era la una. .................It was one o' clock.

    Eran las dos. .................It was two o' clock.

• Principle: Use "era" when citing one o' clock only. Use "eran" for all other hour numbers.

Q. ¿A qué hora ? ............... At what time ?

       A la una. .................At one o' clock.

      A las dos. .................At two o' clock.

• Principle: Use "a" when citing "at what time?"

Q. ¿A qué hora vas a llegar? ............... At what time are you going to arrive?

    Voy a llegar a la una. .................I'm going to arrive at one o' clock.

     Voy a llegar a las dos. .................I'm going to arrive at two o' clock.

• Principle: Use "voy a llegar a" when responding "I'm going to arrive at".

*You may use "quince" or "cuarto" to indicate 15 minutes before or past the hour, and "treinta" or "media" to indicate 30 minutes past the hour only.
