EL VERBO ESTAR: TO BE..........USUALLY TEMPORARY ("state of being")

USE ESTAR FOR:
1. Estar is used to express location,position, 
   or situation of a person,place or thing.

• Carlitos está en Bogotá.                                 Carlitos is in Bogotá.
• Estás en la clase de español.                          You are in Spanish class.
• El palacio de justicia está cerca del correo.    The courthouse is near the post office.

2. Estar indicates state, condition, or phase that is subject to radical change.

• La puerta está abierta.            La ventana está cerrada.
• Enrique está cansado.            Los abuelos están enfermos
• Estamos felices.                     Estamos tristes.
• El café está frío.                     El agua está sucia.
